25 Facts About Me

file_004-1

So, I find it hilarious that you guys know my favorite book and series and what I read per month, but you don’t even know when my birthday is! So, I thought it’d be nice to have a sort of “Get to Know the Bookworm” post so you can learn more about me and my personality!

On to the facts!

img_2014

(1) I am sixteen years old. Yes, I’m a teenager! And, yes, sometimes I abandon my studies for reading and blogging! I mean, it’s a bad plan, but my grades are pretty okay, so what’s the harm?

(2) My birthday is December 7. I was born on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor. My mom was born on April Fools’ Day, my dad on the Ides of March (the day Julius Caesar was stabbed), and my brother on St. Patrick’s Day. So, my entire family was born on holidays.

(3) My favorite TV show ever is a tie between Queer as Folk and Black Mirror. Other TV shows I love: Supernatural, Friday Night Lights, Hannibal, Looking, Sense8, Orange is the New Black, Daredevil, Teen Wolf, Eyewitness, In the Flesh, Banshee, Spartacus, Gravity Falls, How to Get Away with Murder, Hell’s Kitchen, Mr. Robot.

(4) My binging abilities actually pass into more than one category. I suck at finishing/catching up on TV series. It’s a huge problem, obviously.

(6) My favorite movies include Inception, Gone Girl, District 9, Hush, You’re Next, Don’t Breathe, Se7en, Would You Rather, Exam, The Circle, The Edge of Tomorrow, I Am Legend, Nocturnal Animals, The Edge of Seventeen.

(7) My favorite Marvel superhero is Captain America. Close second is Deadpool. Yes, it’s highly ironic that those two couldn’t be any more different.

(8) I literally just got into Marvel last year. My first Marvel movie was Deadpool, then I watched the Iron Man trilogy, and then watched the Captain America trilogy. I still have yet to watch the Avengers movies, the Thor movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men movies, or Ant-Man, but I’m slowly catching up!

(9) When I was ten, I got hit in the head with a golf club. Like, a real one. I was running past while someone was swinging, and got hit. I had to get stitches, and if you ever see me up close, you can still see a faint scar. Fun memories.

(10) I don’t like chocolate. Or bacon. Or ice cream. Or watermelon. Or grapes. Or mac and cheese. I know, I know; I’m a monster.

(11) My house is Ravenclaw. I’ve only taken a couple of quizzes, but I’m a highly imaginative person and super creative (at least, I think I am), so I’m pretty sure I know.

(12) I have a dog named Ginger. She’s a lab-golden retriever mix, and we’ve had her for four years. She chewed up our TV remote when she was little, and now she just chews through her toys because she has zero understanding of how toys work. She also likes playing in snow, and sitting in front of the fireplace whenever we turn it on.

(13) I have a weird interest in True Crime. I’m pretty sure my obsession started because I fell in love with mysteries/thrillers last year, and just grew the more I watched Buzzfeed Unsolved (which is the only thing I watch from Buzzfeed) and the ABC show 20/20. I’d never like to work in forensics or anything because seeing dead bodies and dealing with psychopaths is not my jam, but it interests me!

(14) I consider myself a Christian, but I’m liberal. Yep, they clash a lot. And my liberal side wins most of the time, to be honest.

(15) At Mellow Mushroom (which is my favorite restaurant ever), I order my cheese pizza without sauce. I know it’s weird, but I hate saucy pizza, and it actually tastes scrumptious, so I recommend!

(16) When I grow up, I want to either be a screenwriter or work in publishing somewhere. I’m leaning more towards publishing because I haven’t written something for fun in years, but I have so many stories in my head that I’d just love to get out of there.

(17) I don’t have braces yet. I should because I have the worst overbite on this very earth, but I’m probably going to get them this year. I’ll be that lame girl wearing braces in college.

(18) I haven’t watched Game of Thrones yet. Okay, so I’ve watched a couple of episodes, but then I got distracted one episode and didn’t catch what was going on, and I haven’t watched it since. It was good while I was watching it, though, so I’m definitely going to try to catch up!

(19) Some artists/bands I enjoy: OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Lorde, Ariana Grande, David Guetta, The Chainsmokers, Sohn, Halsey, Bridgit Mendler, Zedd, Zayn, DNCE, Ellie Goulding, Ruelle, Galantis, Major Lazer, Lindsey Stirling, Pentatonix, Sia, Shawn Mendes, Troye Sivan, X Ambassadors, Flume.

(20) My favorite song ever is a tie between Elastic Hearts by Sia and The Unknown by Dirty South. LISTEN TO THEM.

(21) Guys I crush on: all the Chrises in the Marvel Industry, Michael Fassbender, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Hugh Dancy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne, Sebastian Stan, Matt Bomer, Mads Mikkelsen, Idris Elba, the entire cast of Sense8…

(22) I’m the biggest introvert alive. I’m also shy. And a little bit socially anxious. It’s a fantastic combination in a world that’s loud and desires extroverts.

(23) I currently live in North Carolina. It’s sort of become a trashy state over the year, but, you know, it’s where I live. I want to move to California, New York, or Europe some day, depending on my job.

(24) Like most people, I love Youtube. The channels I watch that aren’t Booktube-related are Pewdiepie, jacksepticeye, CinemaSins, ScreenJunkies, Facts., Philip DeFranco (and his other channel Philly D, TheMostPopularGirls (which doesn’t update much), Don’t Hug Me .I’m Scared (again, doesn’t update much), the Fine Bros., LastWeekTonight, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Obviously, my tastes are all over the place, and I don’t like watching full episodes of late night politically-centered talk shows, only segments.

(25) I’m obsessed with the Game Show Network and the Food Network Channel. I don’t know why, but I just do. I don’t care how formulaic each episode is, it’s just so fun to watch.

    • Aw, thank you! I literally realized that I’ve done 20 bookish facts about me but never facts not relating to books, and I thought that was so weird! And thanks; she is! I have too many pictures of her lol

    • OMG, you’re definitely not alone! Both me and my brother hate saucy pizza. It just overpowers how good the pizza tastes sometimes??? It’s hard to explain to people who don’t get it! 😂

    • Aw, thank you! And it might be; I don’t really know! I only meet introverts online most of the time; my close friends seem like extroverts to me. 😂 And yes, the Food Network is awesome!

  1. These are all great facts Mikaela, and it’s great getting to know the person behind the blog a little more as well! 😀 Your dog is gorgeous. I have a dog myself, a retired greyhound named Tommy, and we haven’t managed to get him out of the habit of chewing everything he can get his paws on up. Maybe one day though.
Also I love Captain America the best of the Marvel heroes, and I much prefer Marvel over DC, and wow working as a screenwriter or in publishing could be really interesting. Good luck with well everything you’d need to do when you’d need to do it to get a job in one of those two areas! 😀

    • Thank you! She’s absolutely adorable omg; I actually didn’t like her when she first came around because I used to be terrified of dogs when I was little, but now I love her! 😄 And I feel you on that; we can’t give Ginger toys because she’ll destroy them in a matter of minutes. 😂

Ugh, same, he’s such a sweetheart (and Chris Evans being hot doesn’t hurt lol). And thank you; my mom’s definitely badgering me about doing all the extracurricular at the moment.

      • That’s all right! And all dogs are adorable in my opinion. It’s great you managed to get over your fear of dogs though, that can’t have been easy. And my dog does the same thing, we give him toys and they will very quickly be destroyed.
No that certainly doesn’t hurt, and again that’s all right! 😀 ❤

      • Oh, no, definitely not; I was terrified of dogs in elementary school, and in middle school, my brother really wanted a dog, so we caved. I don’t think I got over my fear until seventh grade lol. 😂 Ugh, yes, my dad gave her four new toys a couple of Christmases ago and she tore them all up in under an hour. She’s too cute for her own good. 😍

  2. Thanks for sharing these with us, Mikaela! I actually haven’t watched Game of Thrones either… don’t think I ever will, haha. I’m super intrigued by the fantasy world and the politics but I just don’t care, and it’s a bit too bloody/gorey for me. 😛

  3. I’ve grown up in California my entire life, so I don’t think about it much. But it’s a lot different than other parts of the country (especially San Francisco or Los Angeles). Before you rush out and move out here (or New York), I recommend vacationing out here for a bit. There can definitely be culture shock moving to either place.

    • I know, it’s gonna be super expensive! I mean, so will New York, but I’ll probably end up going there just for the fact that most publishing companies are located there, and that’s mainly what I want to do when I’m older (and because I want to go to college there as well), but who knows. I’ll probably definitely not be here once I’m an adult though, just because I’m so tired of it. There’s only so long you can be surrounded by conservative people before you become generally annoyed. 😂 And, tbh, it’s SO much easier to meet authors. I mean, it shouldn’t be a legitimate reason, but it sucks missing out on so many fun events since nothing goes on here. 😝 Will be going to NYC for Bookcon this summer and California for vacation sometime in the next two years, so I’ll end up visiting! 😄

      Like

      • Don’t tell me about expensive! Actually, lots of Californians are leaving the state because of how much everything costs here. People are fleeing to Oregon, Colorado, Utah and Arizona (among other places) in droves. Of course, there are plenty of jobs in California, so new people are always coming in.

But I was thinking more of the amount of people who live here. I have a buddy who grew up in West Virginia (and went to college there). He came out here for a few weeks to see if he wanted to look for a job in California after graduation. But he was unprepared for how crowded this area is. After 2 weeks, we decided that California is not for him. It was quite overwhelming how busy everything (and everyone) is.

I hope you enjoy NYC this summer. I’m sure you’ll let us know how it goes!!!

      • I know; it’ll be so crowded! We’ll see if my introverted self will survive in a big city. 😂 I’ll probably avoid people since I already succeed at doing that here except for my family and the few friends I have lol. I’m just a generally anti-social person, I guess (and my younger brother is literally the complete opposite, funnily enough).

And, yes, definitely will! I wanted to go to Bookcon last year but couldn’t make it, so I’m glad I get to go this year! I’ve gone to New York because my mom grew up there, but not NYC, so it’ll be my first time and I’m pumped. 😄

  4. Girl, I feel like we could be best friends. I also hate saucy pizza. At the pizza place near us they have this cheesey garlic bread that is round like a pizza so I just get that! It’s garlic-y AND cheesey! I ALSO love the Food Network and the Game Show network! Idiotest, Baggage, Family Feud, Chain Reaction, Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, it’s all my jam! haha OK ANNNNDDDD I’m an introvert. So, hi, let’s have sleepovers 😀 (and I’ll just eat all the chocolate).

    • AHHH YES I CAN’T BELIEVE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. Saucy pizza is too much; I can only stand it slightly with pepperoni just for the fact that the pepperoni sometimes overpowers the sauce. 😂 I loved Idiotest and Chain Reaction and Family Feud! Idiotest is the best; I find it hilarious. Cutthroat Kitchen is my favorite thing, and I also love anything baking related that ends in “Wars.” And yeah for introverts! We should 100% have a sleepover. 😄

  5. OMG Ginger is the cutest lil’ doggo ever! So sweet. I can’t believe you got the in the head by a gold club?? That is nuts. FoodNetwork shows are the best, you should try Chef’s Table on Netflix if you like cooking stuff. It’s much more arty than your average FoodNetwork show, but really cool.

So cool to learn more about other bloggers! 😀

    • She is! 😍 I have like 100+ photos of her in my phone, and it’s ridiculous. 😂 And, yeah, I actually didn’t even know I’d gotten hit in the head. I thought I got a nosebleed. 🙈 And, ooh, sounds interesting! I always find it so fun to learn about bloggers!

    • Yep! It was way back in the fifth grade, and I was running past while someone was swinging a golf club, and that’s how it happened. Had to get stitches, but I survived! XD
