[TAG] Who The Heck Am I?

So, it’s that time of month for yet another tag! I’ve been nominated for so many tags recently, but this was the one that interested me the most, obviously! A huge thanks to Puput over at Sparkling Letters for nominating me; you can check out her answers over here!

arrow break

1. What does your name mean?

I actually already know what my name means, but it’s “feminine of Michael, which means gift from God.” So, move over, everyone, I’m God’s gift!

2. What is your Myers-Briggs personality type?

Okay, so I got MEDIATOR (INFP-T), which is funny, because the first time I took this a while back, I got the same thing, except it was INFP-J. I don’t know if there’s a difference or not.

Apparently we’re only 4% of the population. WE’RE DYING.

We listen to many people, but talk few. That’s 100% true for me.

Some famous mediators: Shakespeare, J.R.R. Tolkien, Johnny Depp (???), Julia Roberts, Lisa Kudrow, Tom Hiddleston (!!!), Alicia Keys, Anne of Green Gables, Frodo Baggins, Fox Mulder

Idealistic. This is very true for me. I do think people are inherently good, which is funny, because I’m taught 384028402 times in my Christian school that people are inherently sinful and bad. Rage against the machine!

Seek and Value Harmony. I don’t like people fighting, and I would love to live in a peaceful world. And I definitely do like hearing other people’s opinions on things.

Open-minded and Flexible. Quite true. I do believe that people are free to do whatever as long as they’re hurting others, and I’ve actually changed my mind on a fair number of social issues (I used to think gay people shouldn’t get married, abortion should be outlawed, and that global warming wasn’t real. Obviously, I was a hot mess).

Very Creative. Oh, yeah, literally all my time thinking is spent in la-la land. I can drift off and forget what I’m even doing a lot of the time. It’s probably why I like reading so much.

Passionate and Energetic. Yep, I think the amount of time I’ve put into blogging and bookstagram can attest to that.

Dedicated and Hard-Working. Mm, it depends. Like, right now, I’m a hot mess when it comes to studying for school, but if we’re talking about blogging, I literally sat down for an hour and planned out all my blog posts through April 2018. I’m months ahead on my fully written blog posts. I try to make time to do bookstagram photo shoots. So, it all goes back to passion.

Too Idealistic. This is very true. I dream too much, and sometimes get disappointed when things don’t go my way, which is why I quit a lot of things.

Too Altruistic. Hm, I don’t know about this one.

Impractical. Okay, so it says that I might forget to eat and drink because I’m so far into my head, but that never happens. I get headaches and my stomach hurts horrifically if I don’t eat for long. So, untrue!

Dislike Dealing with Data. “When the facts and data contradict their ideals, it can be a real challenge for them.” This is so me (though I don’t think this happens too much).

Take Things Personally. This is so true, which is probably why I don’t get caught up in debates and don’t bother getting into conflict. I just avoid it because I’m not in the mood to deal with people who take things so seriously they start insulting others.

Difficult to Get to Know. I don’t know about this one. I am reserved in real life, for sure, but on the Internet, I feel more comfortable talking about myself. I think it’s mostly because my ideas/opinions are more liberal, and I live in a conservative state and go to a Christian conservative school, while the Internet is more progressive, I guess?

3. What is your zodiac sign?

Strengths: Generous, idealistic, great sense of humor

Weaknesses: Promises more than can deliver, very impatient, will say anything no matter how undiplomatic

Likes: Freedom, travel, philosophy, being outdoors

Dislikes: Clingy people, being constrained, off-the-wall theories, details

This further teaches me that zodiac signs are BS, because apparently, I’m supposed to be extroverted, optimistic, enthusiastic, and likes change. I’m apparently able to transform my ambitions into concrete ideas and I’ll do anything to achieve my goals. In real life I’m an introvert, I’m highly pessimistic, it depends on what I’m enthusiastic on, and I don’t know if I like change??? I am very impatient, though, so there’s that.

4. What Hogwarts house would you be in?

Haha, I got Hufflepuff??? Which is 100% not me. I’m a Ravenclaw through and through; I don’t care what this quiz tells me. My second highest in terms of results was Ravenclaw, though, so that’s interesting.

5. What are your learning styles?

I actually took this exact test last year but I totally forgot my results. So, I apparently have a multi-modal learning preference.

Visual – 10

Aural – 6

Read/Write – 9

Kinesthetic – 7

That’s definitely right. I’m going to apply this to math since that’s my toughest subject to learn. Listening to something explained to me doesn’t work, but seeing someone work out the problems or having me solve some problems really helps.

6. Are you more of a left-brain or right-brain person?

It says I use my brain equally, but the left side is 59%, and the right is 41%. I think I should be more right-brained if we’re linking up to the words, but whatever.

7. What is your blood type?

I don’t know, and I don’t care unless I’m bleeding out at the moment.

8. What career are you meant to be in?

I got Writer, like I thought I’d get! I don’t really want to write too much anymore, but, hey, blogging is a form of writing, right? I don’t really take a Playbuzz quiz too seriously, though.

9. What Divergent faction do you belong in?

Surprise, surprise, I belong in Erudite. I do like education, and I think ignorance is what stems a lot of hate and conflict, so I think it’s very important. And then there’s the fact that I could rant about the education system all day long, BUT LET’S NOT GET INTO IT.

(Also, I 100% chose the “Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose” life motto because I love Friday Night Lights.)

10. What does your birth order say about you?

So, there’s only one more sibling in my house, so just by being the older sister, I’m the firstborn. Apparently, I’m supposed to be ambitious, responsible, and a natural leader. I honestly don’t feel like any of those things are true.

Okay, so this was a really fun tag to do! I’ve learned a lot about me throughout this entire thing, and this was super fun to do, so I hope it was just as fun to read!

Again, like with most tags, feel free to do this one if you want to! I’d love to see your answers!

let's chat

Do we have any answers in common? Do you think your Hogwarts house is correct according to this quiz?

[AWARD] The Versatile Blogger Award

So, I was tagged by the wonderful Beth @ Reading Every Night for this award! You can find her post here. She is literally the sweetest person ever, always leaving super long comments that brighten up my day and her blog is terrific!

The Rules:

1. Show the award on your blog.

2. Thank the person that has nominated you.

3. Share 7 different facts about me

4. Nominate 15 blogs of your choice (lol no)

5. Link your nominees and let them know of the nomination (still no)

1. I haven’t watched any of this year’s Oscar nominees. I mean, I didn’t watch last year’s either. Or the year before that. I’m hoping to at least watch some of them, though, especially since everyone seems to love La La Land and Moonlight.

2. I don’t like classics. I mean, some of them have really interesting concepts, but the writing is so dense that I can barely stand it, and they can be so boring. So far, the only classic I’ve read and liked has been Lois Lowry’s The Giver, which I read back in the seventh grade.

3. I like EDM. I’m pretty sure that if I told people this in real life that they’d be surprised because I’m a quiet person and I like to read, but I love EDM. Galantis, David Guetta, Kygo, Zedd, The Chainsmokers, and Flume are some of my favorites. I know, it’s shallow.

4. I used to write books on Wattpad. And I was sort of semi-famous? I got likes and comments, and my most popular story got over 20,000 reads, so that was cool. I ended up deleting all my stories because I wasn’t in love with it anymore, but it was definitely a big part of my life back in middle school.

5. I get spoiled easily. Books, movies, TV shows. Everything. Just a small list of things I’ve been spoiled for: Clockwork Princess, The Blood of Olympus, Allegiant, Crooked Kingdom, Champion, Crown of Midnight (I actually spoiled myself, that’s how prone to it I am), Sons of Anarchy, the most recent season of How to Get Away with Murder, etc. I’m a spoiler magnet.

6. I read Percy Jackson before Harry Potter. I used to do summer track when I was younger, and those track meets would literally last all day long, so I decided to bring a book with me. My mom had a habit to buy my brother books even though he doesn’t like reading at all, so I’d often read them for myself. I had to rush, so I just picked up whatever books caught my eye, read a couple of sentences, and determined from there if I should read it or not. I picked up Harry Potter, but didn’t like it (the horror!), but after reading the chapter title of The Lightning Thief, I decided to read it. Obviously, the rest is history.

7. I’ve only gone to one concert. I’m not really into huge crowded places in the first place, so I don’t really think it’s a travesty, but my mom surprised me with tickets to a Lorde concert in the sixth grade. It was brilliant (and, yes, I’m still waiting for new Lorde music, unfortunately).

I still have one more blogging award, so I’m going to leave nominating for then. I’m already running out of people to nominate that haven’t done it. 😂

Also, I’d like to take a moment and thank all of you for nominating me for so many of these awards, not only in such a short amount of time, but also since I’ve only been blogging for a while! I didn’t think I’d get any of these for months (or anything else that’s happened), so thank you! And another huge thank you because, somehow, I reached 100 followers on Monday! Excuse me while I squeal copiously because I honestly didn’t think I’d have so many people who’d follow me, especially before two full months of blogging, nor did I think I’d ever get this volume of liked or comments. It means so much to me. ❤️

25 Facts About Me

So, I find it hilarious that you guys know my favorite book and series and what I read per month, but you don’t even know when my birthday is! So, I thought it’d be nice to have a sort of “Get to Know the Bookworm” post so you can learn more about me and my personality!

On to the facts!

(1) I am sixteen years old. Yes, I’m a teenager! And, yes, sometimes I abandon my studies for reading and blogging! I mean, it’s a bad plan, but my grades are pretty okay, so what’s the harm?

(2) My birthday is December 7. I was born on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor. My mom was born on April Fools’ Day, my dad on the Ides of March (the day Julius Caesar was stabbed), and my brother on St. Patrick’s Day. So, my entire family was born on holidays.

(3) My favorite TV show ever is a tie between Queer as Folk and Black Mirror. Other TV shows I love: Supernatural, Friday Night Lights, Hannibal, Looking, Sense8, Orange is the New Black, Daredevil, Teen Wolf, Eyewitness, In the Flesh, Banshee, Spartacus, Gravity Falls, How to Get Away with Murder, Hell’s Kitchen, Mr. Robot.

(4) My binging abilities actually pass into more than one category. I suck at finishing/catching up on TV series. It’s a huge problem, obviously.

(6) My favorite movies include Inception, Gone Girl, District 9, Hush, You’re Next, Don’t Breathe, Se7en, Would You Rather, Exam, The Circle, The Edge of Tomorrow, I Am Legend, Nocturnal Animals, The Edge of Seventeen.

(7) My favorite Marvel superhero is Captain America. Close second is Deadpool. Yes, it’s highly ironic that those two couldn’t be any more different.

(8) I literally just got into Marvel last year. My first Marvel movie was Deadpool, then I watched the Iron Man trilogy, and then watched the Captain America trilogy. I still have yet to watch the Avengers movies, the Thor movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men movies, or Ant-Man, but I’m slowly catching up!

(9) When I was ten, I got hit in the head with a golf club. Like, a real one. I was running past while someone was swinging, and got hit. I had to get stitches, and if you ever see me up close, you can still see a faint scar. Fun memories.

(10) I don’t like chocolate. Or bacon. Or ice cream. Or watermelon. Or grapes. Or mac and cheese. I know, I know; I’m a monster.

(11) My house is Ravenclaw. I’ve only taken a couple of quizzes, but I’m a highly imaginative person and super creative (at least, I think I am), so I’m pretty sure I know.

(12) I have a dog named Ginger. She’s a lab-golden retriever mix, and we’ve had her for four years. She chewed up our TV remote when she was little, and now she just chews through her toys because she has zero understanding of how toys work. She also likes playing in snow, and sitting in front of the fireplace whenever we turn it on.

LEFT: Ginger as a puppy, RIGHT: Ginger now

(13) I have a weird interest in True Crime. I’m pretty sure my obsession started because I fell in love with mysteries/thrillers last year, and just grew the more I watched Buzzfeed Unsolved (which is the only thing I watch from Buzzfeed) and the ABC show 20/20. I’d never like to work in forensics or anything because seeing dead bodies and dealing with psychopaths is not my jam, but it interests me!

(14) I consider myself a Christian, but I’m liberal. Yep, they clash a lot. And my liberal side wins most of the time, to be honest.

(15) At Mellow Mushroom (which is my favorite restaurant ever), I order my cheese pizza without sauce. I know it’s weird, but I hate saucy pizza, and it actually tastes scrumptious, so I recommend!

(16) When I grow up, I want to either be a screenwriter or work in publishing somewhere. I’m leaning more towards publishing because I haven’t written something for fun in years, but I have so many stories in my head that I’d just love to get out of there.

(17) I don’t have braces yet. I should because I have the worst overbite on this very earth, but I’m probably going to get them this year. I’ll be that lame girl wearing braces in college.

(18) I haven’t watched Game of Thrones yet. Okay, so I’ve watched a couple of episodes, but then I got distracted one episode and didn’t catch what was going on, and I haven’t watched it since. It was good while I was watching it, though, so I’m definitely going to try to catch up!

(19) Some artists/bands I enjoy: OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Lorde, Ariana Grande, David Guetta, The Chainsmokers, Sohn, Halsey, Bridgit Mendler, Zedd, Zayn, DNCE, Ellie Goulding, Ruelle, Galantis, Major Lazer, Lindsey Stirling, Pentatonix, Sia, Shawn Mendes, Troye Sivan, X Ambassadors, Flume.

(20) My favorite song ever is a tie between Elastic Hearts by Sia and The Unknown by Dirty South. LISTEN TO THEM.

(21) Guys I crush on: all the Chrises in the Marvel Industry, Michael Fassbender, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Hugh Dancy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne, Sebastian Stan, Matt Bomer, Mads Mikkelsen, Idris Elba, the entire cast of Sense8…

(22) I’m the biggest introvert alive. I’m also shy. And a little bit socially anxious. It’s a fantastic combination in a world that’s loud and desires extroverts.

(23) I currently live in North Carolina. It’s sort of become a trashy state over the year, but, you know, it’s where I live. I want to move to California, New York, or Europe some day, depending on my job.

(24) Like most people, I love Youtube. The channels I watch that aren’t Booktube-related are Pewdiepie, jacksepticeye, CinemaSins, ScreenJunkies, Facts., Philip DeFranco (and his other channel Philly D, TheMostPopularGirls (which doesn’t update much), Don’t Hug Me .I’m Scared (again, doesn’t update much), the Fine Bros., LastWeekTonight, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Obviously, my tastes are all over the place, and I don’t like watching full episodes of late night politically-centered talk shows, only segments.

(25) I’m obsessed with the Game Show Network and the Food Network Channel. I don’t know why, but I just do. I don’t care how formulaic each episode is, it’s just so fun to watch.

And those are 25 facts about me that aren’t related to books! I hope you got to learn a little bit more about me (or we found some things in common)! I really need to do more posts like this.

What are some interesting facts about you? Do we share any facts/interests?

[AWARD] Mystery Blogger Award

“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

So, for some reason, I’ve been nominated for another blogging award by Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books! Thank you so much; I can’t believe I have a second blogging award under my belt now! I’ve now been tagged in so many things; I’m probably going to replace my WWW Wednesdays for a while!

The Rules:

1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
2. List the rules
3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
6. You nominate 10 – 20 5 people
7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
9. Share a link to your best post(s)

1. I have never listened to the Hamilton soundtrack. I know, I know, this is basically blasphemy. I’ve heard fantastic things about Hamilton, and because of the Booktubers I watch, I have heard some of the lyrics, but I’ve never listened to the full soundtrack. Please someone tell me I’m not alone.

2. I run track and field. I’m great at it, not meaning to brag, but I freaking hate it. With the passion of a thousand suns. The only reason I’m doing it is because my mom thinks it’ll be good for my college resume (even though I don’t want to even do track in college, but that’s another story for another day).

3. I love Gordon Ramsay shows. Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Masterchef, Hotel Hell, I’ve pretty much watched them all. I don’t know, I just love watching him scream and curse at stupid people. I would just die if I got to meet him or even eat at one of his restaurants!

  1. What are your goals for this year (reading, blogging, life, everything or anything you want to share)?

For reading, it’d be to finish some of the series I’ve been leaving unfinished over the year, complete 20 series/trilogies, and read 200 books. For blogging, it’d be to have this blog for one year, since I’m determined not to! And, personally, probably to work on not being quick to anger, since this entire election has just left America for the worse and everyone is constantly arguing and generalizing. I want to try as hard as I can to not generalize people (even though I’m sucking at it, but whatever).

2. What’s your favorite TV show at the moment?

Uh, I’m not watching much TV right now, but the last TV show I was obsessed with was this show called Eyewitness. Basically, this teen gay couple are making out in a cabin, and get interrupted by a murder spree. One of the boys, who continually insists he’s “not gay” (this is a lie, obviously), wants to keep their entire encounter a secret, so they both decide not to tell what happened, while one of the boys’ mother is a police officer who’s investigating said murder spree AND the murderer is running loose trying to find and kill the boys and try to get the police off his back. Yes, it’s as good  and twisty as it sounds.

3. What’s one place you’d love to visit, fictional or not?

Okay, I’m going to try to avoid the stereotypical Hogwarts answer, and go with Night Court for fictional. I think this is a totally obvious answer as to why. And for real life, I really want to go to the U.K.! I will go to the Harry Potter Studios before I die.

4. What do you like the most about blogging?

Well, in the short time that I’ve been blogging, I think my favorite thing is interacting with you guys! My family isn’t huge on reading and some of my friends read, but not as voraciously as I do. So, this is one of the few places I can go and I feel like people understand what I’m saying when I talk about ARCs and understand my awful book fandom jokes.

5. Funny question: Tell us an embarrassing blogging or non-blogging story!

Well, this is going to be an embarrassing non-blogging story! Last year, my family and I went downtown for the 4th of July, and I was reading this gay romance novel that was super smutty on my phone. I was super bored, and I started reading it, and there was this smutty scene coming up, and some guy tapped me on the shoulder and asked me, straight up, “What are you reading?” Of course, I had a mini heart attack (he probably hadn’t even seen what I was reading, but I was panicking, all right?), stuttered out, “Nothing,” (that was an easily spotted lie) and quickly walked off. Embarrassing.

I don’t have too big of a blog yet, so it’s not like I have many posts to choose from, but there are a couple that I’m definitely proud of!

My Questions:

1. What are some of your favorite movies?

2. Do you have any pet peeves?

3. What are some of your least favorite book covers?

4. What is your most anticipated 2017 book release?

5. Weird Question: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

And that’s it for the Mystery Blog Award! I only have one more left to go! I’m going to try as hard as I can to not become backlogged with tags and awards. I’ll probably fail that resolution as well.

And also, a huge, huge thank you to all of you concerning what has been happening in the past week or so on my blog. Seriously, this is insane. I’ve gained so many followers, views, likes, comments, and awards, and it’s been happening so fast that I can’t even believe it’s actually going on. I honestly feel like I’m going to wake up and find out it’s all a dream, or this is all going to go away, but thank you, because it means so much to me especially since I haven’t even been here for two months!

Also, I feel like I haven’t written a review in forever on this blog, so the next two days should have reviews! I’ll be posting my ARC review of a sci-fi/horror called Ubo, and I’m hoping to finish Caraval by Wednesday so I’ll have a review up then! I know there are so many people anxiously waiting for me to finish it, and, no worries, so far, I’m in love. And I call dibs on Julian.
